Rome, July 24 - After the Celebration of Lauds and Holy Mass, presided over by Fr. Matteo Sanavio, in the morning, the day saw us busy in the hall for the election of the Superior General and his Council. Fr. Bruno Rampazzo was reappointed for a second term.
After the election he took the oath of allegiance and, in a moment of prayer that followed in the chapel, made his profession of faith. Back in the hall, the Councilor for Religious Life, Formation and Youth Ministry, Fr. Jose Maria Ezpeleta, was elected and also confirmed. Immediately afterwards, as Councilor for the Rogate, Fr. Leitão Reinaldo De Sousa was elected. When work resumed in the afternoon, Fr. Eugène Ntawigenera was elected as Councilor for Charity and Missions; then Fr. Gilson L. Maia was elected as Councilor for Parishes, Charity and Youth Ministry, also reappointed. Among the Councilors was elected as Vicar General, Fr. Jose Maria Ezpeleta, also confirmed in that post. Finally, Fr. Brizio Giovanni Greco was elected as General Treasurer.
