The “Supplica” to the Eternal Divine Father in the Most Holy Name of Jesus.

The Supplica highlights the Rogationist Feast of the Most Holy Name of Jesus celebrated by the Rogate Family every January 31st. The novena in preparation for the solemnity starts on January 22.

Why?

The worth of Supplica is based on our Lord Jesus Christ’s divine promise as recorded in the Holy Gospels: “I tell you the truth, the Father will give you whatever you ask of Him in My Name. ‘Til now you have not asked for anything in My Name; ask and you will receive so that your happiness may be complete.” (Jn. 16:23-24)

When?

St. Hannibal Mary Di Francia wrote: “Since January 31,1888, we have given great importance to the Supplica of January 31, which in our houses is consecrated as the solemn Feast of Jesus’ Most Holy Name. On that day in all our houses, a very special petition is to be presented to the eternal God the Father, as we have been accustomed to do until now.”

Each community will have their own special way of observing this solemn feast, but generally the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed before or after the solemn mass. Then thanksgiving, prayers and songs will follow. The celebration recalls all the graces received during the past year mentioning the novelties, ordinations, professions, jubilees and foundations or erections of new mission areas, communities and activities. Here will also be mentioned the Confreres who have gone away from this life. It then culminates with the petitions lifted to God in the Name of Jesus that He may grant it to the Congregation. This day is also the right moment for communities to hold their monthly recollection.
